The Little Things

Posted by Susan on Oct 07 2007 | Quotes & Inspiration

As you might know, the head of a company survived 9/11 because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.

One woman was late because her alarm clock didn’t go off in time.

One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.

One of them missed his bus.

One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.

One’s car wouldn’t start.

One went back to answer the telephone .

One had a child that dawdled and didn’t get ready as soon as he should have.

One couldn’t get a taxi.

The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone ..
all the little things that annoy me.

I think to myself, this is exactly where I am supposed to be at this very moment..

Next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can’t seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don’t get mad or frustrated;

Someone is at work watching over you.

May you continue to be blessed with all those annoying little things and may you remember their possible purpose.

    My ex-husband stopped while driving to a meeting, and he stopped at a quickshop to get a quart of milk to drink, then he changed his mind and ordered a pop. THe pop machine was dry, and the girl behind the counter had to change the cylinder. She told him to wait, and that the pop would be free, This delayed him about 10 minutes. He got back on the road, and 10 minutes later was in a 4 car collision (not his fault) that killed a 9 year old boy, he swerved out of the way and saved 2 other peoples life, the person who caused the accident, she and her daughter were in critical condition, the car behind my husband sustained minor damage, and my ex-husband was the most critically injured of them all. It took him two years to learn to walk again. I stayed with him for 10 years, in which he became a drug addict, an alcoholic, a verbal abuser, he spent the insurance checks on drugs instead of paying the medical bills, we had to refinance the house, and finally physically abused me badly. when we sold the house for th e divorce there was no equity because we borrowed on it to pay off the hospital and medical bills , so I was broke and on the street. He had found a girlfriend and moved in with her. I guess there’s always an exception to every rule, isn’t there.
